Eclectic Christmas final lettering

Eclectic Christmas Album Design

Eclectic Christmas started as a show that was put on each year by a group of musician friends—or rather Friends musicians—to jazz up the holidays. Eventually they decided to produce an album with the same name.

I took inspiration for the holiday jazz album from jazz albums of the 1950s and ‘60s, particularly the lettering.

The album title was hand lettered, while the rest of the album is typeset in Swiss 911.

The instruments were all cut out of paper, then scanned and re-colored for the album art.

I like to keep things integrated, so the microphone cord continues from the front to back cover, where it gift wraps the UPC.

This album sure was fun to design and listen to. Copies are available on CD or for download at the Eclectic Christmas website.
